2011 Nantucket Film Festival

Nantucket Film Festival

NEW DATES: Nantucket Film Festival: June 22-26, 2011!

  • The Nantucket Film Festival has moved one week closer to July 4th to be more accessible to traveling families! And due to popular demand, we've added a day.

  • "With the new dates, there will be a whole new regional audience segment who will be able to attend because kids will be out of school. This spells greater economic impact for businesses in Nantucket and a stronger position for the festival to deliver on its mission." -Kathleen Matthews, NFF Board Member

  • The Nantucket Film Festival was created in 1996 to showcase innovative voices in film and highlight the screenwriters who created them. For five days in June on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts, screenwriting is celebrated with screenings of over 60 feature-length and short films, and is further explored through our signature programs.

  • 2011 brings more film screenings than ever with over 60 features and shorts.

  • The Teen View on NFF Filmmaking program returns to be run by New England's own renowned filmmaker, Jay Craven (Disappearances and Where The Rivers Flow North).

  • Celebrating our 16th year, our signature events will include:
    • The Comedy Roundtable Presented by NFF Board member Ben Stiller, last year Zach Galifinakis, Sarah Silverman and Andy Samberg stole the show as the esteemed guests.
    • Late Night Storytelling (hosted each year by Peter Farrely with past stories told by Tina Fey, Jim Carrey, Paul Rudd and more).
    • Screenwriter's Tribute hosted by NBC News Anchor, Brian Williams. Our previous honorees have included Charlie Kaufman, Steve Martin, Jim Taylor and Alexander Payne, Judd Apatow and this year's honors go to Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby, CasinoRoyale).

"It's an honor to pay tribute to the writer Paul Haggis, who is not only the only writer to win back to back Oscars for Best Writing in an Original Screenplay—Million Dollar Baby (2004), Crash (2005)—but also responsible in part for reinvigorating the James Bond franchise for his work on Casino Royale." -Mystelle Brabbée, NFF Artistic Director
