If you have ever wondered what the team at White Elephant is up to during the winter months when the hotel is closed, we have the inside track to satisfy your curiosity! Nantucket Insider spent an afternoon touring the hotel, which has just opened for the 2017 season, and discovered some noteworthy enhancements to share with you.
New Wheels
Now in its fifth year, White Elephant and BMW's partnership provides brand new BMWs for guests' enjoyment in the form of sleek 7Series courtesy cars- and if you're lucky enough to stay in either chic White Elephant Loft you will have access to a BMW 6Series or a smart new BMW i3 - all to yourself for the duration of your stay!
Feeling at Home
White Elephant's cozy Library is a favorite place for guests to relax by the fire, grab a book, or skim through the day's newspaper. This past winter, General Manager Bettina Landt worked with local design mecca, Nantucket Looms to source new decor for the space. To complete the refresh project, the library also has upgraded its lighting, added a large coffee table from Restoration Hardware, and reupholstered the chairs and this sweet little reading nook with a very appropriate elephant motif!
Bathroom Refresh
There have been some notable enhancements during the winter months in White Elephant's bathrooms. New tile work, vanities, showers and shower heads were installed over the course of about six months, to give the bathrooms a more modern, refreshing look. Over at sister hotel Jared Coffin House, following many 'test drives' and much research, a new high-performance and high-style Waterpik shower head has been installed, with plans to roll out at White Elephant soon!
Happy Campers
Kids are a type of guest White Elephant really knocks it out of the park with, and the 2017 season should be no exception with the addition of a cute new 'camping' set up. The set up includes a pop-up, outdoor style tent and even a fun 'campfire' which glows in the dark with its flickering 'flames'. Call in a room service order for some of Brant Point Grill's chocolate chip cookies to take along on this camp-side adventure.
Grey Lady Loungers
White Elephant is known for the gorgeous line of chaise lounges facing the harbor along the hotel's lawn. After a few seasons these chaises get a lot of use, and this year they were among several furnishings to see an upgrade in time for opening this year. The team made a slight, but very well received change in the color, moving to a more modern but still classic-looking grey wicker lounger instead of the traditional white. We think White Elephant's signature soft blue cushions really pop against the grey!
Relax and Unplug
As part of a new collaboration White Elephant and legendary high end audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins have teamed up to provide hotel guests with complimentary headphones and portable audio speakers to enjoy at White Elephant. The P5 Wireless headphones feature 17 hour battery life and universal Bluetooth compatibility and the super stylish T7 speaker is also wireless and Bluetooth compatible.
Serious Sound
Expanding on the offerings from audio masterminds, Bowers & Wilkins, both stunning White Elephant Lofts have been outfitted with state-of-the-art speaker systems, perfectly tailored to the unique space of these accommodations.
The White Elephant Loft at Easy Street's high ceiling living room boasts an amped up entertainment system, courtesy of Bowers & Wilkins, for an amazing in-room movie night.
Up at White Elephant Loft at 32 Main Street, guests will enjoy seamless wireless connectivity, and incredible sound quality, with the sleek and space-saving Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin speakers, now placed in the living room and media room of the loft.
